Gwen D’Arcangelis is an activist scholar and associate professor in Gender Studies at Skidmore College. Her areas of teaching and research include gender, race, and science; feminist science fiction; disease and empire; and feminist and anti-imperial praxis. She is the author of Bio-Imperialism: Disease, Terror and the Construction of National Fragility. She has also published on gendered Orientalism in U.S. media coverage of SARS and nurse activism opposing the war on terror. Her current research explores Chinese Medicine and Radical Liberation. In addition to her published work, she is involved in community engagement projects in Asian American justice and health justice, and blogs on topics of science justice.
